My vote is a charnley forest! That green looks too familiar.
Give her the old "hone and hope" technique and let us know how it goes!
Will it put a finishing edge on a razor or is it more of a bevel setter?

Thanked: 1Definitely not a Charnley, I've pretty much finished lapping this to flat and it sure looks a lot like slate at this point.
I will get some pics up later, granted I only got to lap it with very coarse grit so far. Any recommendations what grit I should lap it with to finish?
I was looking through this webpage, it sure sounds a lot like the variegated purple slate they sell as it seemed weathered how it came and then with lapping became darker….

Thanked: 1
This was after just a few minutes of very light pressure and water (I didn't create slurry prior to grinding) polishing the primary grind of a utility knife in my possession.
