    If you want a wedge grind, and I stress wedge, anything under 13/16 handles really funky. But you can get a lot of really nice bigger blades for cheap on the bay.. You'll never go poor buying a reynolds or wostenholm... wostenholms are by and large better than butchers blade for blade anyway, imo. What is scaring you off, prices on thuris or gambling on unlabeled ones and getting something else? I am sure someone here can hook you up.

    You make some good points, I did watch a labled Escher go on ebay tonight for 99$ was a good buy. A Gent offered me a large stone for 4 bills, nice stone, just more than I can spend right now.
