Thread: Question about a barbershone.

Hallo to all of you.
I have a "Morison´s Special Barber Hone for barbers and private use".
Made in Minneapolis by Morison tool & Hardware co.
On the inside of the box is instructions for use.
It clearly says that the hone should only be used with stoneoil, dry or with water.
And it says in big capital letters:DO NOT USE LATHER.
Now my question. Why is it not suited for use with lather? Can the lather destroy or harm the hone if used.
I find that most of you experts say that using a barbers hone is okay with lather or am I totaly wrong.
