I see nothing out of the ordinary in the pictures, nice stones . Just be careful, the kitchen and the oils around is not always a friendly place for the stones.

As for the kitchen they are there for lapping and drying, as for oils don't worry nobody is cooking, not my for sure I cook only if someone around to wash dishes

what are the raw stones in the box and on the floor . my room looks exactly the same as your kitchen .
I plan to get a honing cabinet in one corner maybe
