Weird stone
hi
i found a stone which has a sticker on it as "la lune" but i'm not quite sure if this a "la lune" or the sticker came later on it to sell it? it seems it has gross grit, but as i never seen a la lune i'd like to ask you.
thanks and good holiday

I think that's a stone used to sharpen a scythe

that's what i was saying. it's not la lune as we know as the finishing stone for razors.

Thanked: 3795Yup it's a scythe stone. I have yet to obtain a La Lune for my razors and NOW I have to lust after one for my scythes as well!
I already have about 10 scythe stones and they all do work differently and provide nuances to the edge--just like razor stones.
And no, I have not shaved with my scythe!
I suspect that the company that sold and put stickers on their razor stones simply sold other sharpening stones as well. This was common practice and I think it is a more likely explanation than any kind of sticker fraud.Last edited by Utopian; 12-23-2015 at 01:51 PM.

Correct statement, F.G.B.C. sold all types of stones, as we see Scythe stones but also the fine razor hones (La Lune, Special Stone), Combinaison Stones (Synth./Natural Combo) and plain synthethic stones....they also sold stones which are today sold as Pierre aiguiser naturelle de Saurat...
There is a near looking Artwork like from FGBC, beeing sold as Pierre aux Croissant, here we also found Belgian Stones...
Special Stone for Good Razors (unlabelled):
Combinaison Master Stone AD20:

A while back I bought 2 La Lune scyth stones just for fun, they're pretty coarse.
