Thanked: 3Hatanaka Hatahoshi Nakayama, based on what I saw on another thread. The box is written in old Chinese characters still.

Thanked: 3795Or it's a Nakayama Asagi, as another hone, in the same labeled box is identified.
Actually it's not an Asagi, but there is no telling what the hone is from the characters on that box.

Thanked: 237My question is how'd you manage to just "run across" such a masterpiece, and how much did it set you back? It should be an amazing stone if it is a hatanaka.

I didn't just run across it, I look around and ask about old barber shop, and was directed to a guy in my area that collects old barber shop stuff. Yes it was pricey!!
