Thanked: 169New find
I have no idea what these are but I have encountered them before in New York. Got this new piece yesterday. A very generous 10"x1 5/8". I have not tested this piece yet but my other is around 10k on water and finer with oil. Doesn't seem to get saturated with oil either. Material shines as a prefinisher.

Just from the pictures seems to possibly be Thuringian. Can you post some pic's wet and with slurry? That might help. And also a real close picture. Regardless of what it is its a nice find.

Thanked: 169The only thing I can say with certainty is they're not thuringians. I need to lap out a small issue still so I will show the slurry it gives off when I do.

You found that in the city? Is it hard or soft? What borough are you in? I work in Queens by Aqueduct race track. I'm sure you will get some better answers.

Thanked: 169Just from a dealer I know. He only deals in truly old stuff. What limited comparative data I have indicates it may be an old UK material forgotten by history.

You need Doorsch to chime in. Interesting.
