    Default Japanese Hone ID

Any ideas about this stone type/name/function?

Friend gave me this hone well over a year ago, wondered where it went and I found it today. With so many types of Jnats, have no idea about this one.
He mentioned it may be a transition or even finishing stone, my memory fails me....

At one point, it had some Kanji on the stone.

    It's about 4" x 6"

Face of stone, Kanji was located on the bottom right/left, dry:

    Back of the stone:

    Face of stone with water:

    Thanks in advance....

Judging by the color combination of the minerals it appears to be from Hokkaido, the Mt. Yotei area. That would make it a Nonamesan Natural. A fine finisher, possibly as high as 20K.

Actually that was the name he mentioned Ozuku...said it he used it as a mid level stone right before going to finishing stones, in this case a Nani 12 and then some type of natural. I used it once and it seemed to really remove a lot of striations, stripped after using the stone, then went Nani 12k then Escher...does that compute?

I knew results only from 2 different ozuku's:
    1st one
was bought frm Takeshi Aoki(Japanese chef knife. Sharpening stone. Razor strop. Japanese Razor) feels more like glass, softer a little bit then 2nd (about 4.5+ vs 5) and has some cavities
but it gives slurry with tomo-nagura
    Fast with native slurry.
    Finisher for razor.
There are pics of knive sharpened on it (first - before, second - after the stone with native slurry)

2nd (frm metal-master) gives slurry only with "dia-nagura".
MM wrote that hardness 5+ but it's more about 5.
Fast with native slurry, but little bit too agressive for razor finish and he used koma with progressive dilution os slurry.
Without slurry - finisher for razor.
There are pics of razor sharpened on it

I can't say is it like yours or not. My freind says it can be used to remove scratches after synth stones.
