Wow I am always surprised at how much information a single simple post can generate
    Thanks for the responses all.
I agree no need for hostility or negativity against any statements, as we are all only noting our opinions based on our own experiences and they vary greatly.
But I always love to hear as many sides to every story.
    So please continue share away,
Now I'm off to start searching as many Jnat threads as I can before I play to much with them,
so I will apologise in advance of any holy resurrected thread issues but I will try not to resurrect to many dead threads LOL

As a fellow sword lover please post your finished work here :

    Knives and other sharp things

The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thank you, I will. Still, I'm neither too comfortable to open a thread for the sword, and, no matter how good job I do, I'm never satisfied. If I do have the time today, I'll polish a small 10cm part of the sword and upload photos here; koma nagura and then uchigumori to show the difference. But I have to say, a type 30 nakayama maruka I ended up owing by accident leaves a wonderful edge and appearance as well.

Nope. The lies aren't coming from me & it's rude of you to suggest it.

Uchigumori was always used for polishing swords & rarely offered by any established & reputable sellers as a razor stone.

Not to say it's not possible for such a stone to exist. You might even find a perfect Baji-yama stone that will work on razors but to suggest uchigumori as a "PRIME" razor stone is ludicrous & shows your inexperience..

A completely useless and off topic post from my side, the current one anyway, I've had an accident, caught my left hand's fingers on the door of a car, sitting next to the driver/shotgun; the car was in full stop, that is until I closed the door and got off, with the door completely closed trapping my thumb mainly, until I started yelling and the car stopped a few meters ahead, while I was pulled along with it from outside. Getting to the point, i won't be able to finish polishing the sword to show the uchigumori appearance the next days the least unfortunately.
Funny thing, when it happened, the only think I could think about was that I might never again be able to wield a sword! Thankfully, things are not too dire, and you will see both the sword and its finish if interested.
And, sorry for my rumbling, I wanted to let know that I won't be able to show a small finished part of the sword today or tomorrow for anyone interested, if there is someone.

Me too. Probably half the forum too. A sword is just a very big razor.

Bad luck on the accident but you don't grip the sword tightly with the thumb anyway so you'll be fine
Use your other hand to polish. The show must go on.

There is no weight on the cut with a "defective" left handed thumb, let alone for nuki/抜き. If it was on the right hand, I wouldn't be able to hold a sword again with a really bad injury, thankfully it was the left hand and not something irreversible. For the polishing now, I definitely can't work with one hand only, but it won't take too long to get better, I heal fast. By the way, it's 3:28 in the night here, I woke up because of the pain, codeine+paracetamol/acetaminophen wore off and I'm working tomorrow. Bad luck I guess...

There is a homoepathic remedy called "Hypericum" that is good for finger crush injuries.
    Wish you a speedy recovery.
