Thanked: 7Just shaved. Meh. Off the BBW, the razor is sharp, off the coti, the razor is smooth — off the cnat, it's harsh and not as keen.
It was tuggy around the chin. The AS burned. Couldn't do XTG on my chin, some resistance there. The razor's bevel is shiny as all hell. I don't know, just wasn't "there." I'm feeling WTG on my mustache, and I can feel hair although there wasn't as much pulling there. I could've gone ATG but I think the irritation would've been crazy. I did notice my edge did not "pop" hairs the ways other described. Weird.
I'll give it another go tonight. BBW-->Coti---->cnat, only this time I'm going to relap the surface at 325. I got suction and feedback last time but the edge was garbage, for me.

Well I gave a bbw a try tonight. It was the first time I've used this one, which is on the back of a 4x2 GBRH Barbers Special I recently got from another member here. The results were below satisfactory so I had to go back and finish on the coticule side. This was by no means a proper test. The razor is my 10/8 W&B which to be honest has never really given great results off a coti, it does much better off synthetics and an Escher finish. It was already shaving as best it can, so I just did some circles, then some light circles and tested. No good, so gave the stone a rub, washed the slurry off and did slight pressure circles, adding water and easing pressure until negative. Still no good. 20 or thirty x strokes on coticule and back to 'satisfactory'.
So a little disappointing. I do have another bbw that I think is much better, so will give that a try in a week or two and report back.I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

The blue is present much more abundantly than the yellow. Extracting the yellow layers takes lots of man hours and effort; the blue, not so much. That is, if I remember right.
And yes, the blue layers do vary in performance; just, as far as I can tell, to a lesser extent than the yellow ones.

Has anyone ever tried a unicot with a bbw? Getting the bevel there and adding a layer of tape? I am going to give it a shot and see. Might be worth it for a beginner to pick one up and unicot with a Belgian blue. It may give a great shave. I will see.
