Thanked: 6The Arkansas stone discussion is a side-issue. I bought nice quality Arkansas stones specifically so that I wouldn't have to lap them. I would however like to chamfer the long sides on one face of the stones. Still a big chore probably. Think a diamond plate would be up to that or would you use wet/dry sandpaper? Not looking forward to it.

Thanked: 481Putting a chamfer on the edge wasn't that bad. King of a chore on my 12" translucent, but the rest of them it only took minutes.

Thanked: 6Cool. I'm not going to overdo it. I just want a little. I'm honing not on them already with no chamfer but it makes me nervous. Plus it slows me down because I am hyper-aware of it.

Thanked: 6I think I'm going to try a CKTG plate Marty. Thanks for the suggestion. The DMT probably would have handled it but like Glen said it will make life easier to go bigger.

Thanked: 481Agreed, I much prefer the security provided by a bevelled or rolled edge. I will say this, the bevels I put on my Arks are half the size or less of the ones I put on every other hone I have.
