    Default 3k shapton glass

Anyone used one? I got got as a place to jump to the coticule from. I have never tried a shapton but have tried the naniwa and norton 4k 8k. Hopefully I get on with this stone.

Do guys here prefer the glass or the pros?

I recieved my 3k shapton and proceeded to set a bevel on it. The bevel is remarkably sharp and polished. I think I'm going to try stropping it and shaving with it. It will tell me how the shave is right off the 3k level.

The hone doesn't have that softness of a naniwa. That rubbery feeling isn't there which I really enjoy. Wouldn't mind a 6k, 10k in the series. Time to sell some coticules.

As a set, I prefer the GlassStones. As a bevel setter, I prefer the Shapton Pro 1k over the GlassStone 1k; but I would prefer the GlassStone 500 and 1k over the 3k for setting bevels.

Agreed. I'm not doing any heavy lifting on the 3k. Just if I need to reset a bevel that's been dulled on glass. You know coticule guys love that shi.

Scott, why did you buy the Sharpton? You were jumping from the 1k Chosera before, right? What made you change this progression?
And if this continues, you may soon be jumping from the 12k, no?
I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

Fortunately I never have that problem. My razors never get near glass.

Frankenstein I have never owned the 1k Chosera, I was always worried it had that rubbery feeling like a naniwa super stone. Besides that I cannot afford a chosera. I was jumping from a 1k king but the soaking of stones really annoys me. I'll still use it but I like splash and go and the hardness of the Shapton glass.

Then get the 1k Chousera! It's splash and go.

I just tried the 5k over at Oz's house and it's also fantastic. No rubbery feel on either of them. They're solid and have great feedback.
