Thanked: 7Chosera 600
About to pull the trigger on a Chosera 600 for eBay specials and quick bevel setting, this followed by the 1k.
Any body use one? Tips? Warnings? Suggestions Welcome.

Yes sir it's a great blue hone. Very fast, great for repair work or bevel set. Check out HOTD tomorrow.

Thanked: 7Thanks mike, I like the Chosera 1k very much. It took me ages to get off my butt and pull the trigger but it's awesome. The 600 came to mind as a faster alternative.
I have two questions,
Is the stone still a smooth cutter? Any micro-chipping issues?
Do you ever use slurry(gasp) on it?

Try some coticule slurry on the 1k before you pull the trigger on the 600.

Thanked: 3795I had the Chosera 600 and 800 for at least three years before I finally broke down and got the 1k. I got them at the time when the mantra was that you could not go below a 1k hone without causing more damage than was worthwhile considering the cutting capacity. I found that this was not the case for these particular hones, as well as the Chosera 400. Each of them is very helpful for aggressive restoration work on the edge. Each of them easily can be followed by the 1k.

Thanked: 66I just received my 600 a few days ago, so not a whole bunch of experience yet, but I have owned a 1k for 5+ years???, also a 3k for awhile.
I was pretty shocked to find the 600 actually sounds like its doing something and is gritty feeling, not near as smooth and buttery as the higher Chosera, but then again its not suppose to, I got it to cut metal and I am pretty sure its doing exactly that. That's the best review I can give after only 10 minutes on it.

I use the Chosera range, from 1,5,10k.
The 6k never occurred to me until now.
For small chips I use the 1k with its slurry .
If I have some serious chips I use my Shapton 500k, works a treat..
Although now I want Chosera 6k
