Look at it from my side. I bought a bout 8 and a naniwa 12k. Same price, but the naniwa is easily my favorite for 2 simple reasons. Precision and simplicity. No two coticules are the same and you have to learn their individual quirks, I have not perfected mine yet. The 12k takes a few laps to get a perfect edge, no slurry, running water or anything.
OTOH, coticules are fun because of the individuality and difficulty.
TL;DR buy a naniwa if price and ease are top priorities.

I guess mostly price is a priority if I spend gobbs of $ on a stone my next post might be for an apartment for rent
