    Default Possible washita stone

I feel that this is a washita stone but I would like a second opinion.

I've seen some that looked like that. IIRC an old Buck Ark set I had in the '70s included one colored like that.

    I've got a lilly white.

When you use it with knives it gives off a slurry that feels like silver sand. Very fine but defiantly sandy textured. It's also pretty porous, And if you suck on a corner you get a mouth full of 100 year old oil...... Doing this however did let me feel air been sucked through the rock. It's only 1 step up from a test lick so I thought what the hell....

Arks don't slurry very much and are pretty much non porous.

I think it looks like a soft Arkansas to me. The surface finish looks too tight and shiny to be washita.

I think you both are right. That set I had in the '70s might have been the soft Ark that was colored like that. BTW, I've got an old Lilly White too ...... but I've never tasted it .

It's been cleaned but I've done some lapping work since then and the color has changed. I'll take some pictures tomorrow morning. Hopefully
