If you can gouge it with your fingers that's mighty soft. If it's a coticule it must be rotted. Coticules are pretty hard rocks.

Yeah my first thought was that it was a man made coti. I know that there are man made cotis a an thuris they just take the ground down stones an bonded them together with a man made binder an there you have it but I don't know. It didn't start to do that until I got it wet that's why I came to that conclusion but I could be wrong.

An it's only soft like that when it's wet.

Then it's not a hone. It's something else like an insulated subfloor tile.

Thanked: 3795A natural coticule is non-reactive to acid. A synthetic coticule, made from coticule dust, will bubble in response to an acid like Lime Away, or CLR, or muriatic acid. I have no idea how an insulated subfloor tile will react.
The second photo, with the side view, shows some sort of lamination on the far left side of the darker region. I cannot reconcile that with any sort of stone.

The reason I don't think that it's subflooring or tile is because my dad owned his own business an it was flooring I've layed every type of flooring imaginable an this isn't like any of them.
Utopian I'm not seeing what you're talking about as for as lamination in the corner part of the hone was wet when I took the pics.
I literally got the hone ran a razor across it a few times it seemed to work just fine (it was dry the razor was dull but it did start to take an edge) I went to the bathroom to lap it an as soon as it was soaking wet it got soft an I mean soft it dried an hardened back up. So I immediately presumed that it was man made an the bidet was breaking down.

Thanked: 3795OK, maybe it's some sort of photographic artifact. Do you at least see the horizontal layers in the photograph?
