Just lapped the blue side and as you see from the slurry created by the lapping its very purple in color but lapped pretty easy and I chamfered the edges and side where the it falls away dramatically i radically chamfered because the corner was chipped and this way i dont run the risk of running an edge into the chipped corner.Name: 20160925_193705.jpg

That's a very nice coti. I'm betting it will put a heck of an edge on a razor.

You will most likely find that the BBW side will provide a very keen edge that saves a lot of work on the finishers.

the vendor sells mostly used cooking stuff like pots and pans and he charged me 10.00 for it saying he had to charge that much because it was old and expensive.

Absolutely, I use the purple side of my Coticule to bridge the gap from a 4K Norton to finishing with the yellow. I skip the 8K when using a Coticule, most of the time, but sometimes I skip the purple & use the 8K followed by the yellow to finish on.

I paid $3.00 for a coticule at a flea market. It's 1 1/4" X almost 6". It took a while to really learn this hone. The biggest thing I learned about Coticule's is to finish hone under running water on the yellow side. I learned this from Dr. Matt's coticule videos & it has really changed my honing on this stone. Mine is a slate backed stone so I am going to look for a blue stone to use before the yellow stone. Good luck with your Coti!
