    Absolutely, I use the purple side of my Coticule to bridge the gap from a 4K Norton to finishing with the yellow. I skip the 8K when using a Coticule, most of the time, but sometimes I skip the purple & use the 8K followed by the yellow to finish on.

    I paid $3.00 for a coticule at a flea market. It's 1 1/4" X almost 6". It took a while to really learn this hone. The biggest thing I learned about Coticule's is to finish hone under running water on the yellow side. I learned this from Dr. Matt's coticule videos & it has really changed my honing on this stone. Mine is a slate backed stone so I am going to look for a blue stone to use before the yellow stone. Good luck with your Coti!
