I have a friend living down there, but probably not willing to go rock scouring. That area has been developing fast the last few years and would be interesting if viable stones were available.

I live about 25-30 minutes from there. But I assume this is on private land and I am not in favor of getting shot looking for a rock....LOL!

Interesting read. But 33 years ago when written people were a little bit more relaxed about people coming on their land to find a rock or just pass through. Now days people are a bit suspect and with great reason. If found, I would consult the Orange/Chatham County GIS to see who owns the land if they would mind you or someone going to find the old quarry. I do the same in metal detecting so as to get permission from the correct owner.
