There is where I stand with mine. I have one side flat but I need to tidy up one long edge, back I need to just lap out that crater and get a flat track.

I had good success with original ivory dish soap (like half a drop) and water. You can't get it anymore so last times I honed on it it was running water in the sink. I should take it for another spin with some new lubricants and see if it improves
Looks like a Lynn Idwal, Smiths honing solution would help. :D
I have a couple similar in appearance, nice stones.
I'm going to throw in another vote for LI. It has some similar characteristics to mine.
Is there even something from the LI quarries that is slate or shale vs the steely novaculite material?
Well its been a while since I used it. But I think that it was pretty fine. I don't know about the novaculite thing. It didn't feel like an Arkansas. But that doesn't mean a lot. Some of the charnley forest hones doesn't feel like novaculite to me either. So take that with a grain of salt.
The shave off of this stone was really exceptionally smooth. It doesn't have that really live top end sharp some finishers do but it was more than adequate.
And if you read a bit more about LI and Grecian hone then you will have it.
Actually those details are not clear for me and i think for others too. there is still no Terminus or research on a Grecian, the information is much less then whats available on LI stones....all what we have are kind of labelled stones where probably some people tried to compare other stones with theirs....or with the stones from the quarries.
Till today i dont found/read any proper information based on a reliable research....
