Default Awesome find, hone I.D. and just sharing this beauty.

I believe this to be a Thuringian possibly schwedenstein? Just want to share and get any helpful feedback in regards to the identity of the stone. I have not had time to test it out yet but as far as I have seen it appears to have all the makings of a thuri. I appreciate any and all input. Thanks.Name: 1481465766971992314835.jpg

It reminds me of a Grecian. But I don't have enough experience with that stone to be shure.

It does not look like my Schwedenstein. Neither like a typical Thuringian.

If you found it locally then there is a good chance it might be a vermont slate. A few have appeared as mystery hones in the past. The colour looks pretty close.

It looks like a green vermont slate to me. If it is, use oil or a water soluble buffer and no slurry.. If you ahve a good piece they can be really outstanding finishers, a bad piece makes a nice tile

Thanks guys, I appreciate all your info. I wasn't sure as a friend thought it may be a mottled thuri but it doesn't exactly feel like my other thuri's. When wet it has a dry nappy feeling to it. Honestly I would be happy to find out it is vermont slate as that is something I have never have used. Either way whatever it is I will enjoy experimenting with it. Thanks again guys.

One more thing it has inclusions in it that may be pyrite or iron orr, not sure it has a yellowish/brown look it don't seem to bother the edge which I figure if it where pyrite I would at least see micro chipping? Figured that may be a clue. Thanks again

It is pretty hard, as hard as a thuringian if not harder. Thanks for your input.
