    Default Dual Scotch Hone Find

From Guelph, Ontario, this The Celebrated Dual Scotch Hone - for Razors, Scalpels, or Very Fine Knives, made in Scotland, looks to be relatively new, at least it looks in great shape, should be fun to experiment with.

Time to do some reading about these stones.

So there are two sides, Tam O'Shanter on one side and a Water of Ayr on the other.

That's a really slick looking hone. Which side is which?

Wasn't it the Ayr that Tam o' Shanter crossed in the Burns poem?

    Nice find phrank.
I'm guessing the whiter side be the Tam side?
Read good things about that stone.
Look forward to your findings as to where it fits in the spectrum.

Yes, the one side is around 8k and the other at the finishing end, so it will be interesting to insert this stone starting at the 8k level and finish the progression on naturals.

Finally dawned on me, Guelph, yup, that big world famous Veterinary University that's been there for decades, this stone was probably stored somewhere in the University and simply was never used, at least that's why I'm thinking.

Big snowstorm today, already starting down here....sigh.

Been reading, the WOA, is supposed to be a really beautiful finishing stone....I'll have to get some Sheffields ready for refresh.

    Is that a Norton 4/8?

    Ahhh...I get it!!!

Makes perfect sense...so this Dual Hone is essentially just a old school natural version of a 4/8??
