I was thinking more along the lines of natural stones. But I was under the assumption those were made of something intended to scuff up synthetic hones and prep them for use, not to break down and behave like a nagura stone? Might be worth looking into, I've been meaning to get the Norton prep stone for my Norton 1, 4, and 8.
