    well, I'm not as bad as I used to be. I'm no longer using spit, vegetable oil, and motor oil on my Arkies. Even for knives. And most of my stones do get some level of cleaning and maintenance. I guess the good habits are startin' to rub off a little bit.

    I have a Shapton 16K glass hone that I give a little lap before each use. Very little pressure& just 4 to 6 rounds on the stone. I also have a Shapton Pro 1K. bevel setter I lap before using as I feel the bevel is the most important thing you do to a razor. If the bevel is NOT set right, all the rest you do will not be worth your time.

    Usually I don't use tape, but there's one razor I tape up before taking to the hones.
