Thanked: 3795Same here. I work with tables and data at work. My razors are for fun so I don't bother with any record-keeping for them.
Whether you do a refresh after a certain number of shaves or if do it after you notice a reduction in the quality of the shave, the same thing is accomplished. Both serve as preventative maintenance that keeps your edges sharp for years and that is a great thing.

If I feel diminished sharpness in my first shave stroke, I set that razor aside for refreshing and grab another blade instead (typically bring 2 razors out for each shave anyway). Record keeping?! That sounds suspiciously like work.

I hone my razors to the 12k level. If I refresh with a 10k, wouldn't a few laps with 12k afterwords make sense? Or should I just go straight to the 12k for the refresh?

How about 10k, then .5 micron crox spray, then .25 diamond spray? Works for me so far...

Thanked: 3215Depends on your beard and skin type.
Here is where you can tailor an edge for your beard. The razor, grind also play a big part.
I find hollow ground razors shave closer, for me.
For most folks, Diamonds can be too aggressive. Leather can calm a diamond edge, as can Chrome Oxide on a hanging strop.

Thanked: 481Basically what Euclid said. Waaaay too keen for my tastes. I don't like the feel of Chromox following a Synthetic, so I can only imagine how diamond would feel
Give me a few laps on a slurried Natural to reset, then finish up on clear water with maybe a little shave lather following, and I'm pretty much a happy camper. Synthetics can be OK after a healthy stropping, but I'll pass on (any) pastes.
Such is the beauty of wet shaving though, we can all tailor our edges to our liking.
