Naniwa superstone 12k - my thoughts

So I purchased a Naniwa 12k after giving it much consideration. I currently own a Norton 4/8 and for a long time that was my only finisher. I recently acquired some lapping film and got mixed results.

Yesterday my super stone came in and I put a finishing edge on my Packwood razor. Previously it was only finished with the Norton. It gave me a nice shave with only the Norton. After doing if a few passes with the super stone, I inspected the edge and saw a nice mirror finish. Almost all scratches were removed and it easily pass the hanging hair test.

I shaved with it this morning and the shave was great. There was a noticeable difference in the sense that my shave required less strokes to remove my beard. So I feel like my skin is less irritated and there was perhaps a little less pull. It was subtle but noticeable. I'm only providing this information in my experience to help others who are considering getting a Naniwa 12k and who currently on a Norton 4/8. The Naniwa is affordable as finishing stones go, but still quite an investment, and in my opinion worthwhile.

Considering there always seems to be questions about finishing stones, I hope this post helps some others who might be considering the purchase of a Naniwa.
