Tam O' Shanter
Can someone give me a little insight, where you'd use it in progression etc on the Tam O' Shanter. I've all of a sudden taken an interest in U.K. Hones.

Thanked: 169The more gray one is sort of pure mid range and the light one is upper mid range to a prefinish level. They're slow.

https://bosq.home.xs4all.nl/ It contains the most information about naturals, including almost all known UK hones. The TOS stones are underestimated, while the darker ones are mid range stones, one of my finest stones was a light colored TOS, finer than any Escher, coticule or Charnley and the feeling was similar to that of a good Japanese stone. I still regret selling it.

I have a mid/dark grey ToS and I use mine after the Dalmore blue and before my Norton 8k, I do like my Tam, but I really like the dalmore blue works great after my Chosera 1k.

Thanked: 169My pieces went to a lady who is a silversmith that I knew through someone else. She seemed inordinately happy to get them. I guess silver ppl still hold them in really high regard.

Thanked: 11I have one that's a great finisher. I have tried a couple that were mid range as well. So they come in different grades.
