Thanked: 580Hone ID
Picked this up local auction from an Asian gent. Was hoping for a J-nat but he informed me they were imported from Scotland to Hong Kong and he brought them here with him.
Not fully lapped, Slurries easy, milky colour with a hint of green. Quite soft and set a nice looking bevel on a test razor much quicker than my King 1000, fast cutter. Stria looked good under loupe, shaving arm hair no problem.
Generous size at 8 1/4 by 2 3/4 inch. There were three, photo shows one of the smaller ones with slurry from a diamond plate. Seems to have got a rust stain somewhere along the way. Nice looker none the less.
No clue what it is, any guesses?

Thanked: 580Better view of surface wet and another interesting find.
Crest water hone, can't find anything about this either except a member here had one but no photo. Looks and feels like a Thuri. Drilled to prevent wire edge, like some barber hones I guess.

Thanked: 3795That is an interesting close-up view. From that appearance I would have guessed it to be hard like a novaculite.

I remember that the Crest Brand was a candidate for a Thuringian Stone....keep free from grease supports that theory
