Default Zulu Grey: Nice to have friends.

I have described in other threads my honing set up. A little repetition never hurts, though. The foundation of my set up is the Shapton Glass series (500, 1k, 2k, 4K, 8k, 16k, 30k). I am swiftly coming to love my naturals as my finishers and polishers. My 14 new production and NOS razors are rather evenly divided between my SG30k, 2 8x3 Coticules, 8x3 Dan's Arkansas True Hard Black, and 8x3 Zulu Grey. More and more I'm honing on the Shapton Glass series through the 8k and then moving over to the naturals, especially the Ark. Black. When finished with the Coticules or Ark. Black, I'll lay down 200-300 very light laps on a dry Zulu Grey. Results have been outstandingly fabulous.

I said all that to say this: it's nice to have friends. I've wanted to buy or make a box for the Zulu Grey as it didn't come with one. I've got a friend who loves woodworking and makes Cedar chests. Look what he made me last week.

My friend's wife makes professional labels and took the Zulu logo from their website to make the labels.

Nice touches with latch, green felt, room for the rubbing stone and removable divider.

A little advice: Don't impede an 80,000 lbs. 18 wheeler tanker carrying hazardous chemicals.

I too have a zulu grey. Of course it didn't come with a box. If your friend is interested in making any more boxes would be interested in aquiring one. Feel free to PM me with info if they are interested.

That is a great way to respect your stone! Both Zulu Grey and HGH can give great results used dry. They need to be flawlessly cleaned first.

Thanks, Richard. I suppose my Zulu is a typical specimen. It is mega hard, dense, and very smooth. I usually just wipe it off with a micro fiber rag and commence.

Very nice box and label Leon. Nice touch with your name on the edge. You have some "special" friends.
Good to chat with you today.

What is an "HGH," if you please?
