    Default hone ident help please

picked this up at an antique store today. if anyone has any ideas i sure would appreciate it. dimensions are roughly 7.25 x 1.75. dark purple(ish) side has very small, pink particles. much more of the dark than the light.

Definitely some form of Belgian coticule in natural combination with Belgian blue whetstone. Congratulations!

Thats a nice sized natural! Dont listen to anybody who tells you the back side (purple side) isnt good for honing. It most certainly is.

    1k - 3k - 5k - blue then yellow? seems like i could use it in place of my 8k - 12k?

paid $5 for it. looked beat up to hell. but nothing some laps with the atoma couldnt cure.

Some people use a single side for the entire honing process, some will go purple then yellow. You have some reading and some experimenting to do !
