Thread: NANIWA Professional DX (GOUKEN KUROUTO) #1000 ???

Hello Folks,

Has anyone tried the stone this stone called (or advertised as) "NANIWA Professional DX Whetstone GOUKEN KUROUTO Medium #1000 Wide" ???

doing some research, it seems like this is one of those "new" stones from Naniwa, on the Gouken more economical line... strange thing is that it's advertised as made by "Naniwa polishing industry", thise the actual name of the company as far as I understand is: "Naniwa Abrasive Mfg.Co.,LTD."

anyway, i think i can be confident of the brand since the box has the regular "lobster" logo from Naniwa...:



the good stuff about this stone is that it seems to larger than the Chosera, dimensions are: Length 210 × width 75 × thickness 30 mm (yeah! 3" wide)

it is also cheaper (which means the Chosera most likely is better quality), but this one seems to also be a good stone for knifes or razors.... maybe this one is not splash and go?

the reason I'm thinking on this one is to leave the 1k chosera only for razors and maybe buy this one for knifes only; but maybe one of you guys will surprise me saying something like a "oh no no no.. if buy this one use it for the razors and trow the chosera to the knifes" kind of thing...

anyway, anyone that has tried it please let chime in !
