Want to try a jnat
Want to try a jnat but don't want to dish out the big bucks what are your thoughts on finishers and pre finishers and naguras. I think I have a grasp on the basics. Would love one stone to do it all. I'm trying to keep it under 200 for my first stone would love to hear your thoughts and what I can reasonably expect for my price range I understand I don't have much to work with given my price range.

Thanked: 59How much time do you want to spend in one honing session? Starting with setting the bevel.

Thanked: 2591You can probably get the nagura set and a type 100 Shobodani from JNS for your budget.
You will not be able to have a "one stone do it all" with that set up. You will not be able to set bevels on that stone, and if you use a dedicated bevel setter, you will need amid range stone to bridge the nagura progression. You might be able to use the base stone with a diamond plate generated slurry and then go to naguras if need be, but all that will depend on the particular stone you get. Some base stones are fast and some are slow and will not work well used this way.
Another thing to keep in mind is that not all razors will work equally well with one stone, you will have to expand at some point.Stefan
