    Default 1914 Honing Machine

This is a link to a video of a patented 1914 honing machine:

It's up on eBay for 500 bones:

The vid is short and worth a view--pretty cool that it does x-strokes, flips the blade, and the blade pressure is adjustable.

    Have fun with this one!

Neat, but that would kill all the enjoyment I get from honing blades manually.

Looks neat as a collector's item but wouldn't be worth a darn for honing razors except those that had a perfectly straight edge I'd bet. There probably isn't any provision for rolling strokes like those needed for a smiling blade. Getting a straight edged blade aligned perfectly would probably be a pain too. It was probably intended to be set up and ran until it produced an edge all the way down the blade. I'm guessing it didn't work all that well since they don't seem to be available in high numbers, heh.
