Thanked: 104New stone 'Wakasa' Japanese natural stone
This stone is a Wakasa Japanese natural stone. Yesterday I spent some time getting to know this stone, and came up with a Dovo la Forme 6/8 carbon razor, which I took to a 8k Naniwa superstone edge, then finished the razor with this new stone. My process from the 8k onwards was a little trial and error as I am new to Japanese natural stones. This stone is full sized at 3 lb 5 oz (1504 gms) and was reported by the vendor to be a hard stone suitable for finishing razors. I bought it from Aframestokyo.
I began using a slurry created by a diamond plate, and proceeded through diluting as I went, and finally a fair while honing on just water with lightening pressure.
Considering my inexperience, today I took it to the bathroom, and I had a very nice shave. Bearing in mind I'm used to shaving off 20k Gokumyo edges, this was a much better result than I expected. It was so good, I am putting it back to use again with no adjustments needed. Its ready for the next time I decide to use it.
The stone is very hard and fine and is lovely to hone with. I was so relieved after the shave, to get a top class edge, as my experience with Coticules wasn't a happy one, but this Wakasa is seriously smooth and fine. I have another new stone, a Japanese natural Ozuku Asagi, which I will be using in the week ahead, and I'll put a picture of it up then. According to reports it's finer than the Wakasa, and I am excited at the prospect of that edge.

Nice big stone! Very even too, should last you two lifetimes at least. That with the other stone sound like a killer combo. Have fun and enjoy them!
