Thanked: 59I used to hate Coticules
Now I eat, sleep and dream them. Oh, and I buy em..
These two natural combo's arrived today. Look to be possibly La Veinette, which are my favorites right now. They're very dense, hard, fine and fast cutting. These two are no exception. The shaves I get off of this vein is second to none. The square one is 2" X 4" and weighs 328grams by itself. And together weigh 559g.
Has anyone heard of that label? I can't find anything.
Anyone else have some La Veinette to show off? Go ahead and plop out your 8 X 3" I won't be jealous, I don't think, maybe I will....lol

Very nice indeed.
A little advice: Don't impede an 80,000 lbs. 18 wheeler tanker carrying hazardous chemicals.

Lapport is a German abrasives company. Used to have a 2 sided synthetic from them for razors.

Thanked: 3215La Port had some association with Record tool, they are synthetic stones, but I thought, they were made with coticule dust.
Some say the synthetic coticules are finer and finish better than most natural coticules.
Razor and Stone has some posts on them.

Thanked: 59This is a synthetic stone? I'll have to look into that. Sure looks real to me. When they made them synthetic did they try to make them look natural by putting veins in them? Mine has some pretty convincing looking veins. It is guilty of leaving an incredibly fine finish though.
Thank you for that tidbit.

Looks like a natural to me. Also, why on earth would they make a synthetic in an irregular shape?
Nice looking stones, that.

Thanked: 3215I don’t know about yours, but I have a few that are clearly synthetic, you can see the pour lines where the two colors meet. Much like a Frictionite. They are much more fragile than a natural coticule and break easily.
I once melted one soaking in degreasing solution in a slow cooker.
Mine are labled Record La Port with a different logo. I will take a pic later today.
