I use mine as any Thuri. For touch ups 20 roundtrips, strop and check the edge, if necessary 20 more etc. These ain't rocket science.

Thanked: 286I have tried slurry to water and water only I found no difference, so I use just water.
I use the Welsh slate rated 12 k to 15 k just 30 to 50 light x stroke with water after a maxed out coticule edge and I can feel a difference. I have been very happy with the Welsh slate.

Thanked: 286thats what I have found keen edge that retains smoothness not as mellow as coticule but in between say 12 k naniwas and j nat if you no what I mean.

One month into using this stone and I'm really enjoying the edges that I'm getting off it. I have a TI with really hard steel that took about 200 strokes to get 'feather' keen but still has some good smoothness.
These stones are a great value in my opinion.
