When a hone is lapped on the sides, so the sawmarks are gone I wouldn't buy it.

That said a friend of my lapped the sawmarks of, because he simply didn't know better. But in that case, i would try the hone first. [emoji4]

Why do you say saw marks can't be duplicated? I have looked at many pictures and they don't look that special or different to me.
