Thanked: 4830Things I have used but don't would be a diamond hone for initial bevel setting, I found that when I did that my 8 K edge was very chippy and I went back and forth between my 4K and 8K for a long time before it was resolved. I spend a little more time with the 1K and life is more simple.
I have several finish hones that don't get much love. My norton 1K has been a dust collector since I got my Chosera. Most of the stuff I have gets regular use, except I have far too many razors to rotate them all, in part because I change razors once a week for the most part. I have about 20 that are my favourites and everything else sees very little love. It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 66This is an older photo of just a few of my stones. I just added a Chosera 5k.
I prefere the synthetic progression, the natuals are more for 'fun' and collecting.
One of these days I will take a photo of ALL my stones.

Thanked: 351I go from 1K (naniwa pro) to Naniwa 12K SS or a natural finish hone. No in between steps, but I DO use 2 layers of electrical tape (cheap offshore stuff, no fancy tape) after the 1K, which is done a on bare spine. It doesn't really matter what finishing hone I use... Coticule, 12K Naniwa SS, Belgian Blue, Jnat or Zulu Grey (the latter is my current favorite).

Thanked: 581Don't use DE razors any more, although I keep buying them if the price is right. Straights just give a smoother and closer shave all round with no irritation or razor burn, that's why...

Don't use film cameras any more. Beautiful machines, love them, but... you know.
