Mentioned purchasing an ark in another thread. Wondering if this is a good one?

I one my first FWE special off the bay from a gentleman in Kansas. Him and I have spoken and done some other translations via email and txt. He asked what thing I was interested in, I told him one main thing was hones. He's an awesome guy to deal with!

Ask him if he shines light on it if it lets any through. If it does, you're good to go, it'll be about as good as any.

Yup. A translucent is what it is. Jewelers and watchmakers need a fine stone but also a very hard one as their tools they would sharpen are very narrow and a soft(er) stone would be susceptible to gouging. More than likely a nice finishing stone that may or may not need some burnishing to get the best possible edge.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one
