You did good! That is a barbers delight for sure. The best quality from Escher and most expensive per gram by far. Don't worry about it not having the label you have the most important part and in excelent condition to boot. Nice find!

That backside does look like one of those mottled pieces that hatzicho was offering a while back. Nice combo! I'm envious.

Thanked: 315Nice find! Never used a thuri before or shaved off one, but with all the good comments I really wish I could find one.
The online prices are crazy.

No the black mottled hones come from a total different quarry and even from total different rock age (there are some million years between them).
Not sure if it is a yellow green combination or a ligth green/ blue hone. Both variants exist.
Put the slurry on a black background. If it then shines yellow - it is a yg one, if the slurry looks simply white, it is a lght green layer.

I don't want to contest your knowledge of the subject, and I'm away from the black mottled piece you sold me a while back (I believe you described it as being "from a special quarry which was owned by the late Escher company" with behavior like a Schwedenstein), but in looking at the pictures of it just now, I still think the backside of this combo looks similar (not that it is the same).
