Hi guys,
I have this straight razor hone and im wondering what is it.
Had a look on Google pictures , that's the extent of my research, but no joy.
It green and tiny .
Cheers
Don't ask me to test it, I'm too obsessed with my Jnats :/

Thanked: 3795Well, it's green.
From what I can see on my phone, the chip makes me think that it is synthetic. Do you think it is natural or synthetic?

Thanked: 3795Ok, absent an imprint or information on the box, I'm guessing that you have a green barber hone of eternally unknown origin. If you weren't across the big pond I'd ask you to send it to me for evaluation.
At some point, set down your JNats and check out your GBHEUO!
(I'm pretty confident that acronym will not catch on.)

GBHEUO . I totally agree ?
The box says reg's open razor hone 1950s
In our world that nearly futuristic.
If you have a serious interest I can send it to you?
I care not for money so postage means nothing to me.

Thanked: 3795Thank you but it's not worth the postage. I already have a few barber hones and want to make sure that at some point YOU try out your hone.
However, if you truly care not for money I'd be happy to have any you don't want!

No never. did I read that lapping them can damage your lapping stone & they need to be burnished ?

Thanked: 3795Lapping them also can damage the hone you just lapped--partly because of the removal of the burnishing. Unless a barber hone is damaged or far from flat I prefer to leave them as is, in the state that it was when the last guy used it.
I started out with a couple barber hones so I have a fondness for them. This place can go overboard encouraging excessive purchasing of ever better hones but a single decent barber hone is all anyone needs for a perfectly good shave.
Though their main purpose is for edge maintenance, they can be used from bevel setting to finishing. Their edges are not as good from a lot of other hones we admire around here, but they can produce a perfectly shave-able edge.
