I hated the Norton 1k. Still do. Years ago JimmHAD loaned me his entire set of Shapton Pros (which are now owned by Randy) and I found that I only really liked the lower grit hones. My success rate going through the full progression only was about 70% so I did not care for the entire progression but I continued to like the lower grits. My standard honing procedure was to set the bevel with the Shapton Pro 1k and then transitioning to the SuperStone 1k. I was perfectly content with that for bevel setting. If I needed something more aggressive I had the Chosera 400, 600, and 800. Despite all the praises of the Chosera 1k, I felt no need for it for a few years. I only eventually bought it to understand what everyone else was talking about.
    They were right.
