That is one of the best threads I have seen in part because the pictures are so good.

I didn’t realize you’d already posted that link. Yes the pictures help a great deal. This is where I learned about the Shiny Spots or White Line on the apex of the bevel. When I set a bevel, I think in terms of removing the white line along the whole edge.

What does everyone use for magnification? Was going to buy one of these, but did not know if the magnification was too much? Looking for thoughts before i go wasting money.

Also, will look to get some hands on training after I watch enough training vids. One of the mentors had offered, but want to wait till my knowledge level is up a bit.

I use what I believe is the exact same one. I seem to recall ordering them like 10 at a time because they were only a buck or two so cheaper than new batteries. I think maybe it was this one: https://www.amazon.com/Microscope-Ma...ords=60x+loupe

    or this one: https://www.amazon.com/NYKKOLA-Silve...ords=60x+loupe

I find the light element very helpful.

60X is my preference. I also have 15X and 30X. 30x is pretty good too, and was my go to until is got my 60X. I have used some greater levels of magnification at meets but they were not what I like.
