Thanked: 6Basswood Strop / Diamond Paste Recommendations
I am making 2 basswood stops mounted to acrylic. I wanted recoendatioms for a good value diamond paste, that people trust. Trying to get that SG20k feel without having to buy that stone. I will finish with a Naniwa ss 12k, and was looking what diamond paste to use next. Was thinking 1u and .5u. Please let me know your thoughts and what the best value pastes to buy and where.

Electron Microscopy, Light Microscopy, Instruments and Supplies, Ted Pella, Inc.
About 3/4 of the way down there paste price list is the 5cc syringe for about $10 a pop. I've talked to a a few people and they like the company's stuff.
I've got some from techdiamondtools off amazon that's worked great so far. It was like $12 for 5cc + free shipping so it worked out. Had it on my wish list to remind me it was there and the wife ordered it on night. Like I said it has worked well.

I've often thought about using other woods than balsa, so I'm glad to see this thread on basswood. Are you planning to use it on the bench with hollow-grind straight razors? Might be interesting to use a piece of basswood, place one end on a stable surface, and then strop with the rest without support to give a little flex to things. What the ideal thickness would be there, I don't know for starters.
