    Default vinvent stones

Just wondering if anyone has experience or knows about vincent professional razor clipper blade sharpening hone stone.
It is supposed to be special for Japanese swords and razors.

Are you referring to the 500 grit and 800 grit combos stone?

Its too course for typical razor use and its priced cheaply so its performance will most likely be subpar.

You need hard fine stones for normal razor honing. 800 grit is coarser than anything that you'd usually use on a razor without problems, and never for finishing. The stone is also described as soft and self-generating slurry, the opposite of what you want for a razor.

For maintaining a razor, you need to be looking at 8000 grit and finer.

If you need cheap, lapping film or pasted strops/balsa are options in the same general price range, and they'll work.

    Cheers, Steve

Thank you both for your answers. It seemed suspect because of the cheap price, but I thought I'd ask
