Old stone ID
I bought a stone at the flea market. Someone used it earlier with oil.
One side evidently harder than the other. In the first picture right after the purchase, then during the cleaning and equation. What could it be?

Both sides scream Turkey stone (Cretan stone) from what I can tell.

I have no ideas for ya but thats a great looking box it came in. Shows its age and holds the stone just right. Cool! Put a blade on the stone and give it a go. You should be able to figure out where it belongs in your line-up even if you cant figure the proper name of it.

How are you determining that one side is harder than the other?
Oiled and burnished on one side would make it cut different.

The difference was perceptible during the stone equation.
