Thanked: 90New favorite Scottish Witch stone
Just having fun with the name.
The shave tonight was phenomenal. Smooth as the smoothest coti edge and as sharp as my Charnley Forest or Jnats. As close a shave as you can get and I got that after just one pass. Of course I did the second pass anyhow.
I worked up a little slurry and slowly diluted till it was water only. No tricks or witch craft.
The stone is hard with a greenish slurry. Measures 254 mm x 46 mm.

Thanked: 90I believe it is a Fiddich River stone. Only there are no documented labeled examples and they are a rare stone out of Scotland.

Agreed, a very cool-looking stone. Kind of like an old lava lamp or wave machine. Scottish Witch seems to fit as a name, like looking into a pot of witch's brew or something.
My best natural hones are almost all very plain, only appreciated in their feel and results. It would be nice to have a spectacular natural hone that actually looked spectacular and special.
