Thanked: 3215So, assuming you are looking for more keenness, your choices are Paste, 20k or film, or Jnat.
Pick up a bottle of CBN, lots written about it, .50 or .25 um. Spray on a dedicated strop and strop.
You could bite the bullet and pick up a 20k. which is where you will end up if you make incremental stone purchases chasing keeness.
If you want to see if that is something you really want before making a substantial stone investment, try film you can go to a .50um -20k equivalent for just a few dollars, a glass tile and a couple pieces of film are all you need.
The beauty of film or a 20k is you can dial in the keenness or aggression and always dial it back with coticule, same for paste.
The other alternative is go Jnat, which can be another pricy proposition of a couple hundred dollars and there is a learning curve. Here again a lot of good information is written about Jnats.

You could always send one out and have it honed on the stone of choice to find out what you like. Cheaper than buying a stone u end up not liking

Thanked: 2209Some good suggestions here. Trying the film is a good start then try the CBN. Sending it out to someone with a specific hone is also good.
