    Default Coticule question

Spent some time on the auction site and left with this. The color is much lighter than the picture shows, very very light yellow, almost white. Seems like a hard stone but since I dont have experience with coticules I cant really compare. Stamp on the side says L. Herder and Co. From what I found there was a Leopold Herder in Philadelphia who made knives etc but their logo was L Herder & Son. Anybody with any info on this one? Vein? Who Herder was?

Because of the manganese veins and the fact that it is a natural combo stone, my guess would be La Veinette.

Great looking stone that I am sure will provide you with excellent edges. Enjoy it in good health.

Not sure on the vein but looks like it is a really nice coticule. usually, those black lines in coticule are a good sign of a nice stone

Don't think it is a natural combo in total. Looks like the coticule layer itself was very thin and gone over into BBW (as a natural combo) but then glued to BBW. From the vein I am with badgister - might be a Veinette, from the more darker middle part of the coticule layer could be an Old rock. But thats only guessing.
Herder is a typical Solingen name for bladesmith and knife factories but don't remember a L. Herder. But a lot of the old blade factories also sold whetstones. Nice stone anyway - should work good and serve you well!
    Regards Peter

Thank you guys for the responses. Peter, it does look glued but when I look closer I can't identify the seam. I tried to look with a lupe and still nothing. My other glued coticules I can see the seam pretty easily. I tried to take a picture of one corner and it seems to go BBW, thin yellow line, blue, Y/B mix and then yellow.
Oh well, I know it doesn't really matter. Just my curiosity
