“are you sure that you don!t confuse the Lorraine with another stone concerning the finishing?”

You are assuming this stone is an Ardennes La Lorraine.

I am referring to the group, “French Purple Slate Hones” the Brown Eschers, ( a member coined name) Rouge du Salm, Llyn Melynilyn, La Lune, Vosgienne (another member name), or even the vintage labeled La Lorranie stones, the provenance of these stones is not completely known. Some are finishers.

Yes, we know about the current Ardennes stones, but the rest are still much a mystery and vary wildly in terms of performance.

We agree, the only thing that matters is performance, as Henk stated of the Ardennes La Lorraine, “Actually it seems that within this layer the structure and appearance widely differs.” So, test it.

Interesting thread. Coticules are inherently cool and interesting for what they are, but they do vary widely in performance for razors. They're mysterious, like Europe's answer to JNats.

I love them and try to learn about them always. They were the gateway drug of natural stones, for me.
